Stephanie's Textiles is a small home run business set up in a remote area of West Wales. I was born here in Wales but spent most of my life on the move, living in various parts of the UK as well as Germany and Denmark. I returned to Wales almost 7 years ago with my 5 children.

    

My interest in textiles started almost 14 years ago when I made a cot quilt for my 3rd child followed by quilts for the next 2. I began to make gifts for friends and family which were very popular and led on to commissions for wall-hangings and joining in small craft events. Moving to Wales seemed to be the catalyst for my ventures. What started as a hobby whilst the children were toddlers has become a passion and necessity to satisfy my creative spirit. I have now had several exhibitions of my wall-hangings, and supply local shops with my crafts and children's clothes as well as attending craft fairs mainly in the locality.

We are very lucky where we live. During term time (!) the only sounds are the farm animals, birds and the river flowing nearby. Visually we are surrounded by beauty which is truely inspiring and allows space to create and express the artistic world that surrounds me, and now that the children are all at school I have further opportunities to fulfil my creative dreams.

Many people have suggested I set up a website in order to reach a wider audience so I have decided to take the plunge and stray away from the safety of ludiism into this big world of technology. However, I would like to stress that I am a one man band with no staff or outworkers and my vision is not to become a production line factory, therefore I cannot do bulk orders or trade orders. Everything is made individually to the highest standard. This helps to keep my products alive, fresh and unique, and will give me time to develop new skills and products.
